Review: Big Lies in a Small Town by Diane Chamberlain

I read an uncorrected digital copy through NetGalley. The book will be released in January and can now be pre-ordered.

My review: Read this book when you have time to put everything else aside. As narration shifts back and forth between Anna, an artist from the 1940's who left behind a bizarre mural, and Morgan, the current-day young woman who has been rescued to restore the mural though she has no training for the work, the mystery of why Anna inserted such strange elements into the painting intensifies. There's also the mystery of why blonde Morgan was chosen for this project.

Readers are rewarded with a satisfactory solution to all mysteries.

Review: Above the Bay of Angels by Rhys Bowen

I read an uncorrected proof through NetGalley. The book is set for release in February 2020 and pre-orders are now being accepted.

Above the Bay of Angels is true women's fiction, with romance a minor sub-theme. It is about a young woman making her way in the world, making choices, finding her passion. The historical background is provided in relevant detail. Definitely a good read.

Review: The Accidentals by Gwin Minrose

Each chapter is a story. The stories range from the 1950's to Obama's first election. Told by multiple characters with distinct voices, each evoking their own vision of the times and events, the stories gradually weave together to form an overarching storyline. While at times the pace was a bit slow for my taste, the intricate pattern created by telling the story this way was impressive.
