For Writers

One of my childhood memories is our round dining room table with the manual Smith-Corona portable typewriter sitting amidst pages of manuscripts and the Writer’s Market. My mother wanted to be a writer. I’ve studied and honed my craft far beyond the few classes she took, but if she had not been Trying to Be a Writer, if she had not been a tough editor for a small child, I would not be a writer today.

On Writing:

For some of my background and my approach to writing, check out these pages:

Ø     Writing is Part of Me

Ø     An Impressionist View of Writing

Ø     Why I Write Fiction

My Evolution as a Writer:

After a lengthy revision process, Running Away was still rejected because of its structure, which I believe is essential for my goals for the book. So I self-published. That was the easy part. The following pages describe my journey as a writer and include links to resources.

Ø     Trying to Be a Writer

Ø     Becoming a Professional Writer

Ø     Being a Professional Writer

Ø     Making Writing My Career

My Calendar and What I’m Reading also have useful links for writers and my notes from the 2009 Great American Pitchfest are also available with many links.
