Michael
Dolan McCarthy is a

Instead,
Michael Dolan McCarthy, a boy named for a father he barely remembers and a
grandfather he’s never known, watches his little sister Missy enter
their apartment while he flirts with Shenia.
“Then
Shenia’s cell jingled its pretty little tune.”
It’s
a frightened Missy. She tells Michael their mother is “gone, like
Betsy.” Michael starts running.
Sheri McGuinn’s first published novel, Running Away,
won an Honorable Mention in the Writer’s Digest 2008 International
Self-Published Book Awards. The second draft of Michael
Dolan McCarthy made it to the Quarter-Finals of the 2009 Amazon
Breakout Novel Awards. The review it received from Publishers Weekly
offered praise and criticism that were utilized in the revision of the
manuscript.
